ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Paxton Tiberius Rose was born and raised in Swansea. He claims his happiest days were those enjoyed first at Brynmill Infants School on St. Albans Rd (now Ysgol Gymraeg Bryn y Mor) then up at Brynmill Junior School in Trafalgar Place.
An 11+ failure he endured his worst days at Oxford Street Secondary Modern School (now a car park). He claims it wasn't at all modern but definitely secondary in all other respects. After an extremely short stint as an apprentice upholsterer in the Uplands he quit our lovely curving bay for another far, far away on the West Coast of America in San Francisco. He can only vaguely recall a period spent as a really rubbish hippy in the Haight-Ashbury area of that bay city. He could never quite get the hang of rolling a joint and settled instead for the 'enhanced' cookies. Fascinated by native American culture he moved to Nevada and experienced life changing events with the Paiute tribe of Pyramid Lake. He eventually drifted down Highway 101 and by pure luck landed a job as a doorman at Hearst Castle, San Simeon.
There he came into contact, on a regular basis, with showbiz movers and shakers visiting the castle from LA - which is just a couple of hours away. He claims it was his Welsh accent which attracted the attention of one particular movie producer who just happened to be a Dylan Thomas fan. An invitation to dinner at the home of the producer turned into a stay of many years in the City of the Angels working for several TV and film companies. A journal he had kept since a child had become a hot topic of interest at Hollywood dinner parties and was passed around. This resulted in a contract to write his first script.
'The Tinsel Town Trilogy' is his homage to the golden days of Hollywood.
He thoroughly enjoyed the LA lifestyle to the full but the call of our own Ugly, Lovely Town became too loud to resist. He is once again back in Brynmill spending a lot of his spare time in a shed reupholstering faded furniture
